Recent Mills laboratory alumni (and new Pontifical Catholic U of Chile assistant professor) Daniel Garrido received the Pan American Nutrition and Food Science award from Grupo Bimbo for his thesis on human nutrition "A molecular basis for the enrichment of bifidobacteria in the infant gastrointestinal tract".

With much excitement and anticipation, Dr. Daniel Garrido has moved onto a faculty position in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Bioprocesses in the School of Engineering at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile.  This is one of the oldest and most famous universities in Chile, located in Santiago.   Daniel will be teaching Biotechnology students and supporting the major of Biological Engineering.

Nick Bokulich's study entitled "Quality-filtering vastly improves diversity estimates from Illumina amplicon sequencing" published in Nature Methods was recently profiled by the FFHI website.
