Congrats to Xi Chen (Chemistry) for receiving a $1.7M NICHHD award entitled "Oligosaccharides as antimicrobials and prebiotics".  Co-investigators on this grant are Drs. German, Mills, Zhu and Weimer.  The goal of this work is to develop methods to synthesize specific fucosylated and sialyated oligosaccharides and test them for their ability to promote or deflect bacteria.
