The Mills lab is looking for a postdoctoral scientist to examine the influence of milk and plant glycans with the intestinal bacteria of infants. The ideal candidate would have experience with microbiology, bacterial genomics, genetics and physiology. Knowledge of microbiota analyses (metagenomics etc.) is a plus, but not required. The work will involve genetic, genomic and glycomic characterization of interactions between milk and plant glycans and anaerobic bacteria common to the nursing and weaning infant with applications to at risk populations of all ages.
The Mills lab is housed in the Department of Food Science & Technology in the Robert Mondavi Institute for Wine and Food Sciences at UC Davis. This position is part of a multi-PI, multi-disciplinary effort at UC Davis to characterize the interface between the milk and plant glycans and select members of the gut microbiome.

Candidates interested in these positions should send a short (<one page) letter of interest, a CV and a list of three references to David Mills (damills@ucdavis.edu). Please include “Mills_Lab_Postdoc_glycans” in the email subject heading.
